چکیده

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic performance corn (Zea mays) grown single and intercropped with Urochloa ruziziensis in succession soybean (Glycine max) inoculated Bradyrhizobium japonicum, as well inoculation reinoculation Azospirillum brasilense, two contrasting soils. experiment carried out crop years, a randomized complete block design, 2x2x3 factorial arrangement, five replicates. first evalauted factor composed constrasting soils: clayey Rhodic Eutrustox sandy Haplustox. second cultivation: U. ruziziensis. third consisted onto succession, follows: no both crops, B. japonicum A. brasilense corn, + corn. In highest yields are observed soil seeds reinoculated brasilense. annual results higher grain yield intercropping soil. Inoculation reduce losses caused by competition intercropping.

Occurrence of Azospirillum brasilense in soils amended with swine manure

Restriction analysis of amplified 16S rDNA from bacterial strains isolated from soil was used to evaluate the effects of swine manure and urea fertilisation on indigenous populations of the plant growth promoting bacterium, Azospirillum brasilense, in corncultivated experimental plots. Several operational taxonomic units (OTUs) were found among the isolates. One of them, identified as A. brasil...

Extractability of heavy metals in saline and non-saline soils treated with municipal wastewater under two contrasting moisture regimes

Solubility and bioavailability of heavy metals are important with respect to theirtoxicity. The discharge of municipal wastewater in soil and surface waters can affectbioavailability and mobility of heavy metals in soils and sediments. The effect of dischargeof Arak municipal wastewater on the KNO3 and DTPA extractable heavy metals in a salinesoil sampled from Mighan playa (Iran) compared to a ...

Flocculation in Azospirillum brasilense and Azospirillum lipoferum: exopolysaccharides and cyst formation.

The phenomena of flocculation and floc formation by Azospirillum brasilense Sp7 (ATCC 29145) and Azospirillum lipoferum Sp59b (ATCC 29707) were studied in aerobic liquid cultures. Carbon sources representative of various entry pathways in combination with various nitrogen sources induced flocculation in both species of azospirilla. Noticeably, the combination of fructose and nitrate was the mos...

Oxygen taxis and proton motive force in Azospirillum brasilense.

The microaerophilic nitrogen-fixing bacterium Azospirillum brasilense formed a sharply defined band in a spatial gradient of oxygen. As a result of aerotaxis, the bacteria were attracted to a specific low concentration of oxygen (3 to 5 microM). Bacteria swimming away from the aerotactic band were repelled by the higher or lower concentration of oxygen that they encountered and returned to the ...

Extended phenotype of an mreB-like mutant in Azospirillum brasilense.

Tn5 mutagenesis was used to generate an Azospirillum brasilense SPF94 mutant. Genetic analysis of this mutant revealed that a homologue of the mreB gene, which controls cell shape in Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli, was inactivated. The cell-surface properties of the mutant were different from those of the parental strain. The mutant colonies were highly fluorescent when grown on plates ...
